The best free video interview software in 2026 depends less on features than on one number: how much the free plan lets you do before it asks for a card. For a small team hiring one role at a time, the useful free options split into recorded one-way platforms that meter jobs, interviews or minutes, and meeting apps that meter call length.
This ranking puts the most generous free allowance first and weighs what a hiring team actually needs: enough capacity for a real shortlist, a way to keep or record answers, and room for a second interviewer. Prices are in US dollars, apart from Facecruit, which charges in Australian dollars.

The meters are not interchangeable. Twenty recordings, five interviews and twenty minutes sound similar but cover very different numbers of candidates, which the entries below work through.
1. InterviewClip: Twenty Recordings a Month With No Card

Free plan · 20 video recordings a month · 1 active job · 5 seats · videos kept 2 months · paid from $39 a month billed annually
InterviewClip earns the top spot because its free plan is built for a real hiring round rather than a demo. Candidates get a link, record on their own time without creating an account, and your reviewers score the answers later. Five seats is unusually generous for $0, and transcripts you can search come with the free tier, as do rating cards, blind review and an intro video for each job.
The trade-offs are AI and memory. Free accounts get no AI credits, so the written interview summaries arrive with Pro at $49 a month, or $39 billed annually, alongside 200 recordings and 10 jobs. Videos stay for two months on the free plan, and admins receive a warning 30 days and again 7 days before anything is deleted.
2. Google Meet: A Day-Long Limit for One-on-One Calls

Personal Google account · one-on-one meetings up to 24 hours · 3 or more people up to 60 minutes · up to 100 participants · no recording without a paid plan
For a live interview with a single interviewer, nothing free beats Google Meet. Under Google’s published limits, a personal account hosts one-on-one meetings for up to 24 hours, which removes the clock from the conversation entirely. The catch arrives with a panel: a second interviewer makes three people on the call, and those meetings stop at 60 minutes after a warning chime at the 50-minute mark.
Meet does not record on a free account. Recording is reserved for paid Google Workspace editions, Workspace Individual and Google One plans with at least 2 TB of storage. If colleagues need to watch an interview later, pair Meet with a one-way tool for the round they will review.
3. EasyHire: The Only Free Plan That Scores Answers With AI

Free · 1 job post and 5 interviews a month · 2 team members · interviews stored 2 weeks · AI scoring and summaries included · paid from $49 per job a month
EasyHire puts its AI on the free plan, which none of the other one-way tools here do. Every recorded answer comes back with a score out of five, a short summary and timestamps for the strongest and weakest moments, and the tool will write a job post and scenario questions from a one-line description of the role. Sign-up asks for no card and no demo call.
Five interviews a month is a tight ceiling, enough to compare a shortlist rather than screen an inbox. Recordings are deleted after two weeks on free, so export what you want to keep. Paid plans charge per job each month: $49 for Entry with 10 interviews and a month of storage, or $99 for Standard with 100 interviews and three months.
4. Zoom Workplace Basic: Forty Minutes and a Waiting Room

Free · 40-minute meetings · up to 100 participants · local recording · 3 AI meeting summaries a month · 1 booking page · Pro from $14.16 per user a month billed annually
Zoom’s Basic plan stops every meeting at 40 minutes regardless of how many people join, so it fits a screening call better than a final round. It does several interview jobs well for $0: the waiting room keeps the next candidate out until you admit them, local recording saves the call to your own computer, and one Zoom Scheduler booking page lets candidates choose a slot themselves.
Basic also includes automated captions, screen sharing and AI summaries for three hosted meetings a month. Zoom’s plan comparison lists Pro at $16.99 per user monthly or $14.16 billed annually, which lifts meetings to 30 hours and adds 10 GB of cloud recording space per license.
5. VideoAsk: Screening Questions as a Video Form

Start plan, $0 · 20 minutes of video and audio processing a month · up to 3 steps per videoask · 3 users · VideoAsk branding · Grow from $24 a month billed yearly
VideoAsk, from Typeform, turns screening into a form: you record each question once, and candidates answer on camera, by voice, by text or by picking an option, with logic that changes the next question based on the last answer. The free Start plan includes captions and transcripts, data export, appointment scheduling and Zapier, so answers can flow into a spreadsheet or your hiring software.
Minutes are the limit, and they count every recording, yours included, while text and multiple-choice answers cost nothing. Twenty minutes runs out after roughly six candidates answering three one-minute questions. Once the allowance is spent, answers keep arriving but stay locked until your monthly reset. Grow, at $24 a month billed yearly, adds 1,200 minutes a year and five users.
6. Microsoft Teams (Free): An Hour for Group Interviews

Free · group calls up to 60 minutes · up to 100 participants · 5 GB of cloud storage · one person per account · Microsoft 365 Personal $99.99 a year
Teams Free replaced Skype for personal calling after Skype closed in May 2025, and it gives group calls a full hour, 20 minutes more than Zoom Basic. That makes it a reasonable free home for a two-interviewer panel. The plan also carries unlimited chat, shared tasks and polls, and encryption across meetings, chats, calls and files.
Each free account covers one person, so every interviewer signs up separately. Microsoft 365 Personal, at $99.99 a year, raises the cap to 30 hours and 300 participants. Whole companies use a separate business Teams plan, compared in our guide to internal communication tools.
7. Facecruit: Pay by the Minute After a Free 25

Free · up to 25 minutes · no credit card · reference requests · QR code · A$50 for 50 minutes after that · monthly plans from A$49
Facecruit, an Adelaide company, treats interview time as credit. You decide how many seconds each answer gets, and the total is deducted when you send the invitation, not when you build the interview. Five 60-second questions use five minutes per candidate, so the free 25 minutes screens five people. Each candidate gets a single attempt per question.
Beyond the free minutes, Pay As You Go is A$50 for 50 minutes with no limit on jobs, users or interviews, and unused minutes carry into the next month. Subscriptions start at A$49 a month for 200 minutes and reach A$199 for 2,000. Prices include 10% GST, and recorded interviews stay on file for five years, the longest retention on this list.
8. Jitsi Meet: Open Source, Now Capped at 95 Minutes

Free and open source · meet.jit.si meetings limited to 95 minutes · sign-in with Google, GitHub or Facebook to start a room · can be self-hosted
Jitsi Meet is open source software, so it can run on the public meet.jit.si service or on a server you control. On 9 October 2026 the Jitsi team limited meet.jit.si meetings to 95 minutes, and room creation there has required a Google, GitHub or Facebook login since August 2023.
It ranks last for hiring because it has no candidate scheduling and the public service now ends every meeting at 95 minutes. Its strength is control: an organisation that self-hosts keeps every call on its own infrastructure, and the shared Etherpad document works for a live writing or coding task.
Three Ways Free Plans Ration Video Interviews
Every free tier on this list limits one thing, and knowing which it is tells you who it suits.
- Per interview or recording: InterviewClip and EasyHire count candidates or recordings per month. Easy to budget, because one candidate is one unit.
- Per minute: VideoAsk and Facecruit count recorded time. Short questions stretch the allowance; long answer windows burn through it.
- Per call: Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and Jitsi cap meeting length rather than how many interviews you hold, so unlimited short calls are free.
A small team can combine two meters at no cost: a one-way round on InterviewClip to cut 20 applicants to four, then one-on-one Google Meet calls with the finalists.
Recording Interviews: Consent and Storage
A one-way interview is a recording the candidate makes knowingly. A live call is different: if you record it, state law decides whether you need everyone’s permission, and the rules differ across the one-party and all-party consent states. Telling the candidate at the start that the call is recorded, and why, settles it in every state.
Storage limits matter just as much once a video exists. EasyHire deletes free recordings after two weeks and InterviewClip after two months, so download anything your hiring records policy says to keep.
Paid Interview Platforms You Can Trial Instead
These have no free plan, but each gives full access for a fixed period, which can cover one hiring round.
- Hireflix: first month free on its Small and Medium plans, then $75 a month billed yearly for companies under 50 staff, with unlimited users, positions and responses.
- Interviewer.AI: 14 days free, then $199 a month for 50 interview credits, three job posts and AI scoring of answers.
- Hirevire: seven days free without a card, then $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for one job and 25 interviews a month.
What Disqualified Breezy HR, Zoho Recruit and myInterview
Only tools with a permanent free tier able to conduct a video interview made the ranking. Breezy HR’s free Bootstrap plan has no video interviews; they begin on Startup, from $157 a month. Zoho Recruit’s Forever Free edition cannot take the video interview add-on. The myinterview.com address now leads to Radancy, an enterprise recruiting platform sold through demos.
Order on the list reflects how far each free allowance goes for a team hiring one role at a time, then whether answers can be recorded and kept. Vendors change free tiers without notice, so check the plan page on the day you sign up.
Choosing Free Video Interview Software for Your Hiring Volume
- One role, under 20 applicants a month: InterviewClip covers the screening round on its own.
- A handful of finalists and no time to watch videos: EasyHire’s AI scores rank them for you.
- Live calls with one interviewer: Google Meet, since one-on-one calls run up to 24 hours.
- Live panels of two or three: Teams Free for an hour, or Jitsi for 95 minutes on meet.jit.si.
- Hiring a few times a year: Facecruit’s minutes roll over, so nothing is wasted between rounds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Google Meet for job interviews for free?
Yes. A personal Google account can host one-on-one interviews for up to 24 hours and group interviews of three or more people for up to 60 minutes, with up to 100 participants. It cannot record the call; recording needs a paid Google Workspace edition or a Google One plan with 2 TB or more.
Which free video interview software includes AI scoring?
EasyHire is the one free plan here with AI built in. It scores each answer out of five, writes a summary and marks key moments, within a limit of five interviews and one job a month. InterviewClip keeps AI summaries for its paid plans.
How many candidates can I screen for free?
It depends on the meter. InterviewClip allows 20 recordings a month and EasyHire five interviews. VideoAsk’s 20 minutes covers about six candidates answering three short questions, and Facecruit’s 25 minutes covers five candidates at five one-minute questions each.
Is Skype still available for video interviews?
No. Microsoft closed Skype in May 2025 and moved its users to Microsoft Teams. The free Teams plan allows group calls of up to 60 minutes with 100 participants.
