The best-selling mobile game of all time is Honor of Kings, Tencent’s five-a-side battle arena, which analyst Sensor Tower estimates has taken $16.2 billion in player spending on the App Store and Google Play. It was the first mobile game to pass $10 billion, in 2021, and it earned another $1.68 billion in 2025 alone, almost all of it in China.

Mobile games are not sold; they are free to install and make money from purchases inside the app, so best-selling means highest-grossing. Every figure in this ranking is a third-party estimate of lifetime spending through the two main app stores, as reported by Sensor Tower unless noted, and it excludes web shops and the Chinese Android stores that Apple and Google do not run. Those gaps matter, and the article returns to them below. Release years are the first public launch on any mobile platform, which for Honor of Kings means China rather than the 2024 global release.

Rank Game Developer Lifetime revenue (estimate) Released
1 Honor of Kings TiMi Studio Group, Tencent $16.2 billion 2015
2 Candy Crush Saga King $13.5 billion 2012
3 Monster Strike Mixi $11.2 billion 2013
4 Clash of Clans Supercell $10.8 billion 2012
5 PUBG Mobile Tencent and Krafton More than $10 billion 2018
6 Roblox Roblox Corporation $9.5 billion 2012
7 Pokémon Go Niantic, now Scopely $9.1 billion 2016
8 Puzzle and Dragons GungHo Online Entertainment More than $7 billion 2012
9 Royal Match Dream Games $6.4 billion 2021
10 Fate/Grand Order Aniplex $6.1 billion 2015

The 10 Best-Selling Mobile Games Ranked

1. Honor of Kings: $16.2 Billion

Developer: TiMi Studio Group, Tencent | Released: 2015 in China, worldwide June 2024 | 2025 revenue: $1.68 billion

Honor of Kings has been the world’s top-grossing mobile game for seven combined years, according to the Sensor Tower figures collated by mobilegamer.biz, and roughly 98 percent of its money comes from China. A global release under the Level Infinite label in 2024 added little to that total. Because the estimate covers only the App Store and Google Play, and most Chinese Android phones use other stores, the true figure is higher still.

2. Candy Crush Saga: $13.5 Billion

Developer: King, owned by Microsoft | Released: 2012 | Company claim: $20 billion across all platforms

King’s match-three puzzle is the longest-running money-maker on the list and the only one whose publisher has put its own number on the record: in September 2023 King said Candy Crush had generated $20 billion in lifetime revenue, a figure that includes Facebook and other platforms as well as mobile. On that basis it would be first. On the app-store-only estimate used here it is second, and it remains a top-ten earner every year more than a decade after launch.

3. Monster Strike: $11.2 Billion

Developer: Mixi | Released: 2013 | Peak year: 2016, $1.7 billion

Monster Strike is the biggest game on the list that most readers outside Japan have never played, because about 99 percent of its revenue comes from its home market. Its physics-based flicking battles peaked at $1.7 billion in 2016, and although annual revenue has fallen to a fraction of that, the accumulated total keeps it third, as Pocket Gamer reported when it passed $11 billion.

4. Clash of Clans: $10.8 Billion

Developer: Supercell, majority-owned by Tencent | Released: 2012 | Genre: Base building and raiding

Supercell’s village-raiding strategy game was the highest-grossing mobile game in the West for years, and it is the oldest title in the top five still updated with new content every month. Its 14-year run has been built on a studio of a few hundred people and a handful of games, which is unusual among publishers at this scale.

5. PUBG Mobile: More Than $10 Billion

Developer: Tencent’s LightSpeed studio, with Krafton | Released: 2018 | Milestone: $10 billion by June 2023

PUBG Mobile reached $10 billion in five years and was still among the five top-grossing mobile games in the world in the first half of 2026, at about $575 million. Sensor Tower’s most recent public lifetime figure is the 2023 milestone, so its true position could be anywhere from second to fourth; the table places it conservatively.

6. Roblox: $9.5 Billion

Developer: Roblox Corporation | Released on mobile: 2012 | Model: Platform for user-made games

Roblox is a platform rather than a single game, and the $9.5 billion counts only what players have spent on Robux through the mobile apps. Console, PC and web purchases are extra. It is one of the few publicly traded companies on the list whose business is a single platform.

7. Pokémon Go: $9.1 Billion

Developer: Niantic, sold to Scopely in 2025 | Released: July 2016 | Source: AppMagic, July 2026

Pokémon Go passed $9 billion at its tenth anniversary in July 2026, according to AppMagic, a rival analyst to Sensor Tower. Its launch summer in 2016 remains the fastest start any mobile game has had, and the location-based design meant its revenue collapsed during the pandemic and recovered afterwards, the opposite pattern to almost every other title here.

8. Puzzle and Dragons: More Than $7 Billion

Developer: GungHo Online Entertainment | Released: 2012 | Market: Overwhelmingly Japan

Puzzle and Dragons was one of the first mobile games to earn $1 billion in a single year, and like Monster Strike it built its total almost entirely in Japan. Sensor Tower’s last published lifetime estimate put it above $7 billion in 2018, and unofficial tallies since suggest around $8.5 billion, which would lift it above Pokémon Go. The table uses the confirmed figure.

9. Royal Match: $6.4 Billion

Developer: Dream Games, Istanbul | Released: 2021 | Note: Youngest game in the top ten

Royal Match reached $6.4 billion in under five years, one of the fastest climbs on record, and it was among the five top-grossing games in the world in the first half of 2026 at roughly $600 million. It is the clearest sign that the match-three genre King invented is still growing.

10. Fate/Grand Order: $6.1 Billion

Publisher: Aniplex, part of Sony | Released: 2015 | Tie: Gardenscapes, Playrix, $6.1 billion

The anime role-playing game shares tenth place with Playrix’s Gardenscapes on Sensor Tower’s count, and Coin Master and Genshin Impact are close behind after each passed $6 billion. Fate/Grand Order’s revenue, like that of the other Japanese titles, is concentrated in one country, which is why it outranks games with far larger global player counts.

Why the Estimates Disagree

None of these publishers except King discloses lifetime revenue for an individual game, so every ranking depends on analysts who model app-store spending from download and ranking data. Sensor Tower and AppMagic produce different figures for the same game: AppMagic’s mid-2026 estimate for Honor of Kings is $13.25 billion against Sensor Tower’s $16.2 billion, and for Candy Crush $7.69 billion against $13.5 billion. The order of the top three holds under both, but the gaps do not.

The bigger blind spot is China, where most Android downloads go through stores that no analyst tracks. That understates Honor of Kings and every Tencent title, and it is the reason the company’s own statements about PUBG Mobile’s $10 billion differ from the app-store estimate. Treat every number here as a floor.

What the Money Says About the Business

Sensor Tower puts mobile in-app spending at about $82 billion in 2025, and the ten games above account for roughly $100 billion between them across their lifetimes. Three genres dominate: match-three puzzles, competitive multiplayer, and Japanese gacha role-playing games. Two of the ten launched before 2013, and only Royal Match is younger than 2018, because a game that survives its first year keeps compounding.

That longevity is the difference from console sales. The best-selling Nintendo Switch games and the best-selling PlayStation games sell most copies in their first two years and then fade; Candy Crush is still a top-ten earner 14 years after launch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the highest-grossing mobile game of all time?

Honor of Kings, at an estimated $16.2 billion in app-store spending according to Sensor Tower. King says Candy Crush Saga has made $20 billion across all platforms, which would put it first on a company-reported basis.

How much has Candy Crush made?

Sensor Tower estimates $13.5 billion on the App Store and Google Play. King itself announced $20 billion in lifetime revenue in September 2023, a figure that includes Facebook and other platforms.

Which mobile game reached $10 billion fastest?

PUBG Mobile, which passed $10 billion in June 2023, five years after launch. Monopoly Go holds the record for the fastest to $6 billion, in 1,275 days from its April 2023 release.

Why is Pokémon Go not higher?

Its $9.1 billion, per AppMagic, places it seventh. Revenue fell sharply during pandemic lockdowns because the game depends on walking, and it has never matched its 2016 launch year, whereas the games above it earned steadily every year.
