Apple Creator Studio: Price and the New AI Tools

Generate Fill in Pixelmator Pro, an AI assistant in Logic Pro and MotionVFX in Final Cut. A free update for subscribers.

Apple Creator Studio

Apple Creator Studio costs $12.99 a month and is getting its largest update since launch. The new release adds AI assistants to Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages and Numbers, and new generative tools to Pixelmator Pro.

It is free for existing subscribers and arrives on the App Store in November.

AI Assistants Across Nine Apps

Final Cut Pro gets the most. MotionVFX effects, templates, transitions and motion graphics are now built in, along with Content Hub stock video, round-trip editing with Pixelmator Pro, more keyframe easing and 23 additional transcription languages.

Pixelmator Pro gains Generate Fill, which rewrites a selected area of an image from a text description. Logic Pro is redesigned and adds a beta AI assistant on the Mac, a rebuilt Browser with on-device sound tagging, and drum separation in Stem Splitter.

Keynote, Pages and Numbers get beta assistants that read document context, plus support for external AI agents. As an non-linear editing suite this is now closer to a full production set than a bundle of separate apps.

What Apple Creator Studio Costs

The subscription is $12.99 a month or $129 a year, and students and educators pay $2.99 a month. New subscribers get a month free, and a qualifying Mac or iPad purchase adds three.

The apps can still be bought outright instead. Final Cut Pro alone is $299.99, so the subscription pays for itself against a single app in under two years. The Final Cut Pro product page lists the current system requirements.

  • Monthly: $12.99, or $2.99 for students and educators
  • Yearly: $129, or $29.99 education
  • Update: free for existing subscribers, on the App Store in November
  • Caveat: several assistants are beta and US English only

Is Apple Creator Studio Worth Subscribing To?

For anyone who would otherwise buy Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro outright, the maths is straightforward: $129 a year against $299.99 once for a single app, with eight others included. MotionVFX being built in rather than a paid add-on is the biggest change in this release.

The AI features are harder to judge, because the assistants in Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Logic Pro are all beta and limited to US English. Treat them as a preview. If you need a machine to run it on, the MacBook Pro M6 is the cheapest current option and the touchscreen MacBook Pro is the one built for colour work.

  • Subscribe if: you use two or more of the apps regularly
  • Buy outright if: you only ever open Final Cut Pro and keep versions for years
  • Note: the assistants need macOS 27, and several are US English only
