Instagram has redesigned its wordmark — the text logo at the top of the app — for the first time in about ten years. Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri announced the change on August 13, 2026, calling it “cleaner and more modern, with references to the original.”
The new lettering drops the old cursive script for a more compact, half-print look, with restyled curves on letters like the “s,” “r,” and “g.” The pink-and-orange camera app icon on your home screen is unchanged.
Reactions were mixed and fast. Because the new “r” is heavily stylized, many people online joked that the logo now reads “Instagzam.” Others praised the fresher look.
The wordmark is part of a wider brand refresh that also adds three typefaces — Instagram Sans, Instagram Pen, and Instagram Mono — with the signature gradient used more sparingly going forward. It’s rolling out globally now.
