The Gold Punk skin is free, but only through one specific route: redeem a Fortnite Gift Card on your Epic Games account between 2 October and 31 October 2026 and the outfit lands in your Locker automatically. There is no quest to grind and no V-Bucks price attached.
The catch is the card itself. A V-Bucks Card, the older product that still sits on plenty of shelves, does not qualify, and that single distinction is where most people lose the skin. Everything below comes from Epic’s own support article and Fortnite game data rather than from leak accounts.
What the Gold Punk Skin Actually Is

Gold Punk is an Outfit of Epic rarity that joined Fortnite on 1 October 2026, introduced in Chapter 7, Season 4. Game data files it under the Carving Corps set with the description “Hacking and carving a golden path forward.”
The design is a gold pumpkin head with red glowing eyes over a navy jacket trimmed in gold zips, gold cargo wrap and gold trainers. It is a straight gold treatment of an outfit Fortnite players already know, which is the part most coverage skips.

How to Get the Gold Punk Skin in Fortnite
Epic grants the outfit at the moment the card is redeemed, so the whole process happens on the web rather than in game. The official support article for the promotion lists four steps.
- Buy or receive a Fortnite Gift Card. Physical cards carry the code on the back, digital ones arrive by email.
- Sign in to your Epic Games account at epicgames.com/redeem, the same account you use to play.
- Enter the alphanumeric code from the card and select Redeem. The V-Bucks go onto your account and the outfit is granted at the same time.
- Launch Fortnite and open your Locker. Gold Punk appears with your other outfits, no claim step required.
Redeeming inside the promotion window also returns 20 percent back in Epic Rewards, which is account credit you can spend later on Fortnite, Rocket League and Fall Guys content bought through Epic’s payment system. Epic grants one Gold Punk Outfit per account, so a second card does not produce a second copy.
Fortnite Gift Card vs V-Bucks Card: the Difference That Costs You the Skin
Epic is explicit that V-Bucks Cards are not eligible, and only cards sold specifically as Fortnite Gift Cards at retail qualify. The two products look similar on a shelf hook and are easy to confuse.
The reason both exist is a transition. Fortnite Gift Cards are replacing V-Bucks Cards region by region, and Epic’s V-Bucks card FAQ confirms V-Bucks Cards may still be on sale at major retailers in the meantime. What each one buys is the clearest way to tell them apart.
| V-Bucks Card | Fortnite Gift Card | |
|---|---|---|
| Buys V-Bucks | Yes | Yes |
| Buys Fortnite Crew and Packs | No | Yes |
| Buys Epic Games Store games and DLC | No | Yes |
| Buys fab.com content | No | Yes |
| Qualifies for Gold Punk | No | Yes |
If the card in your hand says V-Bucks Card, it will still add V-Bucks to your account and it has no expiry date, but it will not trigger the outfit. Check the product name before you pay rather than after.
Where You Can Buy an Eligible Card
The third eligibility condition is geographic: you have to be in a territory where Fortnite Gift Cards are sold. Because the rollout is still running, the list of countries carrying the new cards is shorter than the list carrying the old ones.
Epic names sixteen territories where the older V-Bucks Cards may still be found at major retailers while the swap happens: the United States, Canada, Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. Those same retail chains are the ones progressively switching their stock over, so a shelf that held V-Bucks Cards last month is the most likely place to find a Fortnite Gift Card this month.
Region locking applies on top of that. Cards printed with a region flag in the upper left corner only work if your Epic account or platform account is registered to that same region, so a card bought in France will not redeem on an account registered in Canada. Buying a cheap card from an overseas marketplace is the most common way people end up with a code they cannot use.
One more thing worth knowing before you redeem: V-Bucks added through a card follow Fortnite Shared Wallet across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, mobile and cloud gaming, but V-Bucks redeemed on a Nintendo device stay on Nintendo devices. The outfit itself is tied to the Epic account, not the platform.
What to Check Before You Buy the Card
A gift card is a final purchase, and Epic’s card terms are blunt about it. All sales are final, Epic does not accept returns unless stated otherwise, and a card will not be replaced if it is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without your permission.
Two details work in your favour. Cards carry no fees and no expiry date, so an unredeemed card does not rot in a drawer, and the full face value is deducted in one go at redemption rather than drip fed. The balance then belongs to a single account: V-Bucks are not transferable between accounts and refunds are not offered on them, though Epic says it can sometimes help if a card went onto the wrong account by mistake.
For the skin specifically that means timing is the only variable you control. Buying the card in October but redeeming it in November leaves you with the V-Bucks and no outfit, because the grant is tied to the redemption date rather than the purchase date.
Gold Punk Is Not in My Locker
Epic lists three checks before you open a ticket, and they resolve most cases. Work through them in order.
- Confirm the redemption happened between 2 October and 31 October 2026. A card redeemed outside the window is not eligible, even if you bought it during the promotion.
- Confirm it was a Fortnite Gift Card and not a V-Bucks Card. This is the single most common reason the outfit does not appear.
- Restart Fortnite. The Locker reads a cached inventory, and a fresh launch pulls the new item.
If all three pass and the Locker is still empty, Epic asks you to submit a support ticket rather than redeem a second card. A second redemption will not grant a duplicate outfit, so you would be spending money for nothing.
The Rest of the Carving Corps Set

Gold Punk is not a new character. The Carving Corps set holds three items, and the other outfit in it is Chrome Punk, a Rare outfit added on 18 October 2022 during the chrome era, with the near identical description “Hacking and carving a path to victory.”
Put side by side the relationship is obvious: same pumpkin head, same jacket, same pose, finished in liquid chrome instead of gold. The third item in the set is Graveyard Rave, an Uncommon Loading Screen from the same 2022 drop with art by Afu Chan.
That matters if you are deciding whether to buy a card for the skin. You are paying for a gold recolour of a four year old outfit, which some players will want precisely because the original is long gone from the shop. Our list of the rarest Fortnite skins and why they vanished covers how that scarcity usually plays out.
Does Gold Punk Have a LEGO Style?

Yes. Fortnite’s cosmetic data carries LEGO Style renders for Gold Punk, which means the outfit is rebuilt as a minifigure for LEGO Fortnite rather than being limited to Battle Royale.
LEGO Styles apply automatically for outfits that support them, so there is nothing extra to unlock. Load into LEGO Fortnite after the outfit is granted and the minifigure version is already selectable.
What Happens to Gold Punk After 31 October
The promotion ends on 31 October 2026 and the outfit stops being granted with card redemptions after that date. Epic has not said whether Gold Punk will return, appear in the Item Shop for V-Bucks or stay with the accounts that claimed it.
Promotional outfits tied to a purchase window have historically stayed out of the shop, which is how the genuinely scarce outfits in Fortnite got that way. Treat the date as firm and do not count on a second chance. If you want the skin and you are in an eligible region, the decision has a deadline attached.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Gold Punk skin free?
The outfit costs no V-Bucks, but it is not free on its own. You get it as a bonus for redeeming a Fortnite Gift Card you paid for, so the real cost is whatever the card cost. Epic grants one per account.
Can I get Gold Punk with a V-Bucks Card?
No. Epic states that V-Bucks Cards are not eligible and that only cards sold specifically as Fortnite Gift Cards qualify. Redeeming a V-Bucks Card adds V-Bucks to your account but grants no outfit.
Where do I redeem a Fortnite Gift Card?
At epicgames.com/redeem, signed in to the Epic Games account you play on. Enter the code from the back of the card or from your digital gift card email, select Redeem, then restart Fortnite and check the Locker.
What is the Gold Punk skin worth in V-Bucks?
It has no shop price. Gold Punk has never been listed in the Item Shop, so there is no V-Bucks figure attached to it. Comparable Epic rarity outfits usually sit around 1,500 V-Bucks when they do appear.
