Minecraft mobs number 88 in the current release, Java Edition 26.3 and Bedrock Edition 26.60. They split into 36 passive, 19 neutral, 31 hostile and 2 boss mobs, and this page lists every one with its health in points and in hearts.
One heart equals two health points, so a 20-point mob has 10 hearts. All 88 exist in both editions; Java and Bedrock differ only in a few drops, spawn details and one boss health figure, each flagged where it appears. Mobs still in development are left out.
All 88 Minecraft Mobs Sorted by Behaviour
The game files mobs by how they treat the player, and that grouping is the one used throughout this page. Passive mobs are the largest group by a small margin over hostile ones, with 36 passive mobs against 31 hostile.
| Group | Mobs | Share of the 88 | How they behave | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Passive | 36 | 40.9% | Never attack the player | Cow, Villager, Allay |
| Neutral | 19 | 21.6% | Fight back, or attack only under set conditions | Wolf, Enderman, Bee |
| Hostile | 31 | 35.2% | Attack the player on sight | Creeper, Warden, Blaze |
| Boss | 2 | 2.3% | Built or summoned, with a large health pool | Ender Dragon, Wither |
Three of the newest mobs break the pattern their group suggests. The Nautilus and Zombie Nautilus are neutral until tamed, the Camel Husk is filed as passive even though it appears carrying a Husk and a Parched, and the Sulfur Cube is passive on paper but behaves very differently in practice. The section on mobs in the wrong group covers each.
Passive Minecraft Mobs: 36 Animals, Villagers and Golems

Passive mobs never attack the player. They supply food, leather, wool and string, and a handful of them never spawn naturally. The Mule, Sniffer, Snow Golem, Copper Golem and Happy Ghast are all bred, hatched, built or revived.
Passive mobs from Allay to Horse

| Wandering Trader | 20 (10) | Milk bucket or invisibility potion, if holding one |
| Zombie Horse | 25 (12.5) | Rotten flesh 2-3 |
The Villager is a mob like any other, with 20 health points and no drops. Its trade tables have their own guide. Rabbits, cod, salmon and tropical fish are the most fragile at 3 points, while the Camel, at 32, is the toughest of the passive mobs.
Neutral Minecraft Mobs: 19 That Fight Back
Neutral mobs leave you alone until something triggers them, and each has its own trigger. The group runs from a 3-point Pufferfish to a 100-point Iron Golem, and it includes both wolves and the two new Nautilus mobs, which can be tamed.
| Mob | Health points (hearts) | Drops |
|---|---|---|
| Bee | 10 (5) | Nothing |
| Cave Spider | 12 (6) | String 0-2, spider eye 0-1 |
| Dolphin | 10 (5) | Cod 0-1 |
| Drowned | 20 (10) | Rotten flesh 0-2, copper ingot 11%, a trident or nautilus shell if held |

| Fox | 10 (5) | Nothing, unless it carries an item |
| Goat | 10 (5) | No death drop; a horn when it rams logs, stone or ore |
| Iron Golem | 100 (50) | Iron ingot 3-5, poppy 0-2 |
| Llama | 15-30 (7.5-15), random | Leather 0-2, plus carried gear |
| Nautilus | 15 (7.5) | Nautilus shell 5%, when a player or tamed wolf kills it |
| Panda | 20 (10); weak panda 10 (5) | Bamboo |
| Piglin | 16 (8) | The gold gear, crossbow or sword it holds |
| Polar Bear | 30 (15) | Raw cod or raw salmon 0-2 |
| Pufferfish | 3 (1.5) | Pufferfish; bone meal in Java, bones in Bedrock |
| Spider | 16 (8) | String 0-2, spider eye 0-1 on a player kill |
| Trader Llama | 15-30 (7.5-15), random | Leather 0-2 |
| Wolf | Wild 8 (4), tamed 40 (20) | Nothing, apart from any wolf armour |
| Zombie Nautilus | 15 (7.5) | Rotten flesh 0-3, plus saddle or armour |
| Zombified Piglin | 20 (10) | Rotten flesh 0-1, gold nugget 0-1, rare gold ingot, its sword |
Wolves show the largest swing in the group. A wild one has 8 points and a tamed one has 40, which makes a tamed wolf as durable as an Enderman. The Cat is different between editions: it has 10 points in Java whether wild or tamed, and 20 once tamed in Bedrock.
Hostile Minecraft Mobs: 31 That Attack on Sight

Hostile mobs go for the player as soon as they notice one. This is the group that supplies gunpowder, blaze rods, breeze rods and totems of undying. The table is split in two to keep each half readable, and the order is alphabetical.
Hostile mobs from Blaze to Piglin Brute
| Mob | Health points (hearts) | Drops |
|---|---|---|
| Blaze | 20 (10) | Blaze rod 0-1 on a player kill |
| Bogged | 16 (8) | Bones 0-2, arrows 0-2, arrow of poison 0-1 |
| Breeze | 30 (15) | Breeze rod 1-2 |
| Creaking | 1 (0.5), immune while its heart lives | Nothing |
| Creeper | 20 (10) | Gunpowder 0-2; a music disc if a skeleton kills it |
| Elder Guardian | 80 (40) | Wet sponge, tide armour trim, prismarine shards and crystals, raw fish |
| Endermite | 8 (4) | Nothing |
| Evoker | 24 (12) | Totem of undying, emerald 0-1 |
| Ghast | 10 (5) | Ghast tear 0-1, gunpowder 0-2 |
| Guardian | 30 (15) | Prismarine shard 0-2, prismarine crystals, raw fish |

| Phantom | 20 (10) | Phantom membrane 0-1 on a player kill |

Hostile mobs from Pillager to Zombie Villager

|---|---|---|
| Pillager | 24 (12) | Ominous banner or bottle from captains, items it picked up |
| Ravager | 100 (50) | Saddle |
| Shulker | 30 (15) | Shulker shell, 50% in Java |
| Silverfish | 8 (4) | Nothing |
| Skeleton | 20 (10) | Bones 0-2, arrows 0-2 |
| Slime | Large 16 (8), medium 4 (2), small 1 (0.5) | Slimeball 0-2 from the small ones |
| Stray | 20 (10) | Bones 0-2, arrows 0-2, arrow of slowness 0-1 |
| Vex | 14 (7) | Nothing |
| Vindicator | 24 (12) | Emerald 0-1, iron axe 8.5% |
| Warden | 500 (250) | Sculk catalyst |
| Witch | 26 (13) | Redstone 4-8, plus 0-2 of glass bottle, glowstone, gunpowder, spider eye, sugar, stick |
| Wither Skeleton | 20 (10) | Coal 0-1, bones 0-2, skull 2.5% |
| Zoglin | 40 (20) | Rotten flesh 1-3 |
| Zombie | 20 (10) | Rotten flesh 0-2, iron ingot, carrot or potato at 2.5% each |
| Zombie Villager | 20 (10) | Rotten flesh 0-2, rarely iron ingot, carrot or potato |
Slimes and Magma Cubes split into smaller cubes when killed, so each has several health values. In Java, a zombie-type mob that leads a group can spawn with 40 to 100 health instead of 20. The Creaking sits at the other extreme with 1 point, but it cannot be damaged while its heart block stands.
Boss Mobs: The Ender Dragon and the Wither
Only two mobs carry the boss label. Neither appears by chance in the Overworld, and both are fought at deliberate moments.
| Boss | Health points (hearts) | Where it comes from | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ender Dragon | 200 (100) | The End, on first entry | 12,000 XP on the first kill, dragon egg |
| Wither | Java 300 (150); Bedrock 300, 450 or 600 | Built by the player | Nether star, 50 XP |

The Ender Dragon has 200 points on paper, but damage not landed on its head is cut by roughly 75%, so the effective pool is nearer 800. Summon it again with four end crystals and it pays out 500 XP instead of 12,000. The dragon egg drops on the first kill only in Java.
The Wither is built from soul sand or soul soil and three wither skeleton skulls. Its health depends on the edition. Java gives it 300 points on every difficulty, while Bedrock scales it to 300 on Easy, 450 on Normal and 600 on Hard.
Which Minecraft Mob Has the Most Health and the Hardest Hit
The Warden has the most health of any mob at 500 points, which is 250 hearts, and it also has the hardest regular melee hit. That hit lands for 16 points on Easy, 30 on Normal and 45 on Hard, or 22.5 hearts on Hard. Its sonic boom deals 6, 10 and 15 and ignores armour and Protection.
One edition-specific exception exists. On Bedrock Hard the Wither has 600 points, which beats the Warden, so “the Warden has the most health” holds for Java and for Bedrock Easy and Normal only. The table ranks the top mobs.
| Rank | Mob | Health points (hearts) | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Warden | 500 (250) | Highest on Java and on Bedrock Easy and Normal |
| 2 | Wither | 300 (150) Java; 600 (300) Bedrock Hard | Tops the Warden on Bedrock Hard only |
| 3 | Ender Dragon | 200 (100) | Hits to the body are cut by about 75% |
| 4 | Ravager | 100 (50) | Raids only |
| 4 | Iron Golem | 100 (50) | Villages and outposts, or built from iron blocks |
| 6 | Elder Guardian | 80 (40) | Exactly three per ocean monument |
| 7 | Piglin Brute | 50 (25) | Bastion remnants only |
| 8 | Enderman, Hoglin, Zoglin | 40 (20) | Three mobs share this figure |
At the bottom of the scale, the Creaking has 1 point and the smallest Slime and Magma Cube share that figure. A world set up for testing mobs usually leans on Minecraft commands.
Minecraft Mobs Added Since 2024, With Release Dates

Eleven mobs have arrived across seven drops since April 2024. Every one reached Java and Bedrock on the same day, although the version numbers differ. The 26.1 drop on 24 March 2026 added new baby mob models but no mob, and 26.3 on 15 September 2026 added none.
| Mob | Group | Java version and date | Bedrock version |
|---|---|---|---|

The next mob already in snapshots is the Frostbite, a zombie variant planned for the 26.4 drop in the final quarter of 2026. It is not in the game yet and is not counted in the 88. The Blub, a rabbit-like passive mob announced in September 2026, is planned for sometime in 2027.
Mobs That Sit in the Wrong Group
The passive, neutral and hostile labels are a simplification. A few mobs sit in a group that does not match how they play. These are the ones worth knowing.
- Camel Husk, Skeleton Horse and Zombie Horse. All three are filed as passive but are treated as monsters by the game.
- Sulfur Cube. Passive, yet it counts against the monster mob cap, can spawn on Peaceful, and hurts you if it has absorbed magma or TNT.
- Nautilus and Zombie Nautilus. Neutral until tamed.
- Hoglin and Zoglin. Hostile, while their relatives the Piglin and Zombified Piglin are neutral.
- Iron Golem. Neutral rather than hostile, despite 100 health points.
Several things are deliberately not among the 88: the Agent and NPC (Bedrock and Education only), unused mobs that exist in the files, April Fools joke mobs, and the Frostbite and Blub that have not been released. The Monster Hunter advancement lists 41 monsters, but that is a subset and not the hostile count. Modded creatures from the best Minecraft mods are also outside the total.
