Mukesh Ambani net worth stands at about $82 billion, roughly ₹7.8 lakh crore, in Forbes’s real-time estimate on 24 October 2026, which places him 25th in the world. Nearly all of it is Reliance Industries stock, and almost none of that stock is registered in his own name.
This guide takes the number apart using documents Reliance and the exchanges publish: the shareholding pattern for 30 September 2026, the 2025-26 annual report and the June 2026 quarterly results. It covers what he owns, how a family holding differs from a personal account, and what a 10 percent fall in the share price costs.
What Is Mukesh Ambani’s Net Worth in October 2026?
Forbes put Mukesh Ambani’s net worth at $82 billion on 24 October 2026, about ₹7.8 lakh crore at the ₹94.9432 per dollar reference rate published by FBIL for 23 October 2026. That ranks him 25th worldwide and second in India. Reliance shares are the main asset.
The shares closed at ₹1,190.00 on the NSE on 23 October 2026, down 24.47 percent since the start of the year. The 52-week high was ₹1,611.80 on 5 January 2026 and the low ₹1,152.20 on 13 October 2026. Reliance’s market capitalisation was ₹16,10,372 crore ($169.6 billion).
How Mukesh Ambani Net Worth Is Calculated, and Why the Number Moves

A net worth figure for a founder-controlled company starts with a filing: shares held multiplied by the closing price, then converted to dollars at that day’s exchange rate. Private property, cash, other listed stakes and debts are added or subtracted by estimate. The date, the rate and the share of the family holding assigned to him all change the result.
The same filings show the range of choices. The whole promoter group’s Reliance shares are worth ₹7,99,144 crore ($84.2 billion) at ₹1,190, and the group’s Jio Financial Services shares ₹66,509 crore ($7.0 billion), together $91.2 billion. Forbes’s $82 billion sits below that, and the filings do not say how much of the group is his. Read any single figure as an estimate. For the plain-language definition, see net worth.

1. Mukesh Ambani’s Own Reliance Shares: A Small Direct Stake

16,104,040 shares | 0.12% of Reliance | ₹1,916 crore ($202 million) at ₹1,190
The Reliance shareholding pattern filed for 30 September 2026 lists Mukesh D Ambani with 16,104,040 equity shares, 0.12 percent of the company. At the 23 October 2026 NSE close of ₹1,190.00, that is ₹1,916 crore, or $202 million at the ₹94.9432 per dollar reference rate. It is about a quarter of one percent of the $82 billion headline.
Nita, Isha, Akash and Anant Ambani each hold 16,104,042 shares, and K D Ambani holds 31,482,644. All six individuals together own 112,002,852 shares, 0.84 percent of Reliance, worth ₹13,328 crore ($1.4 billion). The fortune is not in these names.
2. The Promoter Group Companies: 49.60% Held Through Entities

6,603,493,244 shares | 49.60% of Reliance | ₹7,85,816 crore ($82.8 billion)
Almost all of the family’s Reliance holding sits in entities. Four LLPs hold 4,752,616,418 shares, 35.70 percent of the company: Srichakra Commercials LLP at 11.11 percent and Devarshi, Karuna and Tattvam at 8.20 percent each. The four are worth ₹5,65,561 crore ($59.6 billion) on their own.
Four more holders carry the Reliance name or its Sikka ports unit: Reliance Industries Holding Private Ltd (4.57 percent), Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings (3.62), Reliance Services and Holdings (2.58) and Sikka Ports and Terminals (0.53). The filing lists the holders but not who owns the LLPs.
3. Jio Platforms: 533 Million Subscribers, Held Through Reliance

Reliance owns 66.43% | Outside investors 33.57% | FY26 EBITDA ₹76,255 crore ($8.0 billion)
Reliance’s annual report for 2025-26 shows it owns 66.43 percent of Jio Platforms at 31 March 2026. In 2020 Jio raised ₹1,52,056 crore from outside investors, about $20.8 billion at the report’s ₹73.11 rate. Facebook paid ₹43,574 crore for 9.99 percent in April 2020, valuing Jio at ₹4.62 lakh crore before the money went in.
Jio ended June 2026 with 533.3 million customers and a 53.3 percent EBITDA margin. In the quarter to 30 June 2026 Reliance said Jio filed its draft offer document with SEBI. Until it lists, Jio has no market price, so any value is a projection from earnings.
4. Reliance Retail: 20,169 Stores, 83.56% Owned

Reliance owns 83.56% | FY26 EBITDA ₹27,033 crore ($2.8 billion) | Gross revenue ₹3,70,026 crore ($39.0 billion)
Reliance Retail Ventures raised ₹47,265 crore in 2020 for 10.09 percent, according to the 2020-21 annual report. Divide one by the other and the round implies an equity value near ₹4.68 lakh crore. KKR’s separate ₹5,550 crore for 1.28 percent, announced on 23 September 2020, was struck at ₹4.21 lakh crore before investment.
At 30 June 2026 the business ran 20,169 stores over 78.4 million square feet and had 396 million registered customers. Quarterly EBITDA was ₹6,309 crore on a 7.9 percent margin, down 1.1 percent on the year as digital commerce investment grew.
5. Oil to Chemicals and Oil and Gas: The Original Core

FY26 EBITDA: O2C ₹60,546 crore ($6.4 billion) | Oil and gas ₹19,050 crore ($2.0 billion)
The refining and petrochemicals unit produced ₹6,62,401 crore of FY26 revenue ($69.8 billion), of which exports were ₹2,78,570 crore ($29.3 billion). In the June 2026 quarter revenue rose 30.4 percent to ₹2,01,803 crore as crude prices climbed 54.1 percent on the year, while EBITDA rose 17.2 percent to ₹17,010 crore.
Oil and gas added ₹19,050 crore of FY26 EBITDA and ₹4,973 crore in the June 2026 quarter. Together the two energy segments earned ₹79,596 crore ($8.4 billion) of EBITDA in FY26, more than Jio did, on a business with thinner margins than either digital or retail.
The Promoter Structure: Why a Family Holding Is Not One Person’s Brokerage Account
A brokerage account has one owner who can sell any share. Reliance’s promoter group is 50 members, of which 3 hold no shares, and holds 6,715,496,096 shares, 50.44 percent of the company at 30 September 2026. The filing records no change in the group’s total shares for the quarter. The percentage slipped from 50.48 as depositary receipts converted into ordinary shares.
The annual report states that Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani, Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani and Anant Ambani together and collectively control Reliance and Jio Financial Services through voting rights. Control and ownership are separate tests: the filing shows how the votes sit, not how the wealth divides. The promoter group also holds 49.13 percent of Jio Financial Services, 3,243,887,366 shares worth ₹66,509 crore ($7.0 billion) at ₹205.03 on 23 October 2026.
Dividends show the gap. Reliance paid ₹7,443 crore in FY26, so the group’s 50.44 percent was about ₹3,754 crore, while his 0.12 percent was about ₹9 crore. The Petroleum Trust that controlled Reliance Services and Holdings was dissolved on 30 April 2026 and removed from the pattern. An LLP is a partnership with limited liability, a legal form that separates the entity from its partners.
What a 10 Percent Reliance Move Does to the Total

A 10 percent move in the share price changes the promoter group’s holding by ₹79,914 crore, or $8.4 billion at the 23 October rate. Applied to the $82 billion headline, a 10 percent fall would remove about $8 billion before any other asset moves.
The year to date shows the scale. At the 5 January 2026 high of ₹1,611.80 the same 6,715,496,096 shares were worth ₹10,82,404 crore ($114.0 billion). The fall to ₹1,190 removed ₹2,83,260 crore ($29.8 billion) of value, and Reliance’s EBITDA for the June 2026 quarter was a record ₹54,067 crore. This is information, not financial advice.
Succession: What Reliance Announced in 2023 and What Followed

On 28 August 2023 the Reliance board recommended Isha, Akash and Anant Ambani as non-executive directors and accepted Nita Ambani’s resignation from the board, so she could focus on Reliance Foundation. She attends board meetings as a permanent invitee. Read the company’s own board announcement of 28 August 2023 for the wording.
The three children took office on 27 October 2023, per the annual report. Anant became an executive director on 1 May 2025 after a postal ballot passed with 94.4054 percent of votes in favour, and his FY26 pay was ₹12.17 crore. Mukesh Ambani’s remuneration for FY26 is shown as nil.
Each of the three holds 16,104,042 shares, 0.12 percent, the same as their father. The documents I read set out board roles and do not set out how the promoter group’s shares will pass. Forbes describes Akash as heading Jio, Isha as overseeing retail and financial services and Anant as leading energy.
Philanthropy Through Reliance Foundation: What the Annual Report Shows

The figures in Reliance’s filings are company spending, not personal gifts. The group spent ₹2,248 crore ($237 million) on CSR in FY26 against a requirement of ₹2,057 crore, and ₹888 crore ($94 million) of it went to Reliance Foundation, chaired by Nita Ambani.
Reliance on its own spent ₹1,223 crore, 2.37 percent of average net profit, with environment, ecology and animal welfare at ₹640 crore. The report says its CSR programmes have reached more than 9.7 crore people across 98,000 villages since 2010. For the largest personal gifts anywhere, see largest charitable donations in history.
