The A19 chip, three far-field microphones and hands-free Siri. Apple TV 4K costs $299 and ships November 13.

The new Apple TV 4K costs $299 and moves to the A19 chip. The headline change is that you no longer need the remote to talk to it, because there are now three far-field microphones in the box.

It was announced on October 13 alongside the rest of Apple’s home lineup and reaches stores on November 13.

A19 Silicon and a Microphone Array

Apple rates the A19 at up to 50 percent faster on CPU and up to twice as fast on GPU than the previous generation. It also adds a dedicated AV1 decoder, which matters for streaming efficiency rather than picture quality you can see.

Siri on screen is now full-screen and conversational. It takes follow-up questions during playback, shows poster art from the Apple TV app, and pulls personal context from a paired iPhone. The feature runs in beta on tvOS 27.2.

The Siri Remote looks identical but gains Find My with Precision Finding, and the newest version can be made to play a sound. It is sold separately at $59.

Is the New Apple TV 4K Worth $299?

The hands-free microphones are the upgrade. Everything else on the box was already good enough, and Apple is pushing Siri AI back to second-generation hardware anyway, so the software is not the reason to buy.

That makes this an easy yes for anyone on an Apple TV HD or a first-generation 4K, and a hard no for anyone who bought the last one. If you are building the room around it, our best TV roundup covers the panel and the HomePod mini 2 is the speaker half of the system.

  • Buy it if: you want Siri without hunting for the remote
  • Skip it if: you own the previous Apple TV 4K, which gains Siri AI by update
  • Budget note: four-speaker surround means four HomePods on top of the $299
